Personalisation In Rotherham – My Choice My Future

8th March 2010

Over the last few years the Government have asked people across the country, how they would like their health and social care services to be organised in the future.

People said they want fast access to services, at a time and place to suit them and that these services should be personalised to their specific needs.

By April 2011 all councils are expected to have made significant steps towards redesigning and reshaping the adult care and support services that you receive. In Rotherham, we want everyone to know about Personalisation and understand how social care and support is changing.

The Customer Insight Group has the main purpose of communicating with the residents of Rotherham, including current service users and local stakeholders about the transformation agenda and benefits of Personalisation. Over the last four months they have held visioning events and an awareness week including consulting with customers on a new name for personalisation, My Choice My Future was the winning entry.

Over the next twelve months the Personalisation message needs to be spread further and all groups and organisations in Rotherham given the right information and in the format they want it.  The group would like to visit as many forums, groups and organisations as possible, whether you need a poster and some leaflets or you would like someone to come and talk to your group they will endeavour to meet your needs.

The group would also like to get people involved by attending Visioning days and Customer Insight Events, these provide the opportunity for customers and staff to come together and walk through the customer journey from start to finish gathering valuable learning along the way. Service users, carers and the workforce will form a Learning from Customers Group that will highlight good and bad practice and raise any concerns with the transformation agenda.

Personalisation is happening now and will continue to grow over the year ahead, be part of shaping the future and ensuring Rotherham continues to lead the way.  For further information please contact Jackie Scantlebury  01709 822670 or  Jackie.scantlebury@rotherham.gov.uk.
