Decision time

When an issue, complaint or request for joint work is received by LINkrotherham it is taken to the LINk Governing Board who decide whether we will work on the issue or not.

If we decide to go ahead with a project then normally a task group is set up to work on the project.  Each task group is different some will meet face to face others will communicate by telephone or e-mail.  Some groups will only run for a couple of weeks, some for a couple of months and some for longer.

Ear, Nose and Throat Cancer Patients

LINkrotherham has recently been made aware of a problem experienced by some cancer patients being discharged from hospitals from outside of the area.

There is no Ear, Nose and Throat ward at Rotherham Hospital.  Therefore cancer sufferers who need this surgery normally go to Doncaster or Chesterfield for surgery.  Problems can be experienced when the patient is ready for discharge but needs support at home or a care plan.  In these cases the patient normally has to be transferred and admitted to Rotherham Hospital before the assessment can be carried out.

LINkrotherham will be investigating why this happens and developing a pathway to try to resolve this issue.  It is hoped that when this pathway is developed it will be rolled out to all areas where patients are experiencing a similar problem.

If you would like more information or are interested in being involved please contact the LINk Support Team.
